Our 3-Year Health Guarantee
Our 3-Year Health Guarantee
At DiamondiCoons, health is the foundation of our breeding program. Our 3-year health guarantee reflects the care, planning, and responsibility that go into every kitten we raise and our commitment to the families who welcome them into their homes. This page provides an overview of our health guarantee, what it includes, and the shared responsibilities that support your kitten’s long-term wellbeing.
What Our Health Guarantee Covers
We offer a three-year genetic health guarantee. This guarantee reflects our commitment to responsible breeding and stands behind our cats in the rare event of a serious genetic or congenital health condition, as defined in our Sales Agreement. Our goal is to raise healthy, well-adjusted Maine Coons and to provide peace of mind to the families who choose DiamondiCoons.
A Note on Living Beings
Cats are living beings, not products, and biology is never entirely predictable. While we take every possible step to raise healthy, well-supported kittens, very rare and unexpected health challenges can arise despite responsible breeding, proper care, and veterinary oversight.
Our health guarantee exists to provide reassurance and clarity in those rare situations, and to reflect our commitment to standing behind the cats we produce.
Our Commitment as a Breeder
To support this guarantee, every DiamondiCoons kitten is raised with a strong foundation of ethical breeding practices, ongoing education, and comprehensive veterinary care, including:
- Carefully planned pairings based on health, temperament, and breed standards
- Comprehensive veterinary care prior to go home
- Early spay or neuter
- Age appropriate core vaccinations
- Microchipping
- Ongoing guidance and support for families
Our breeding decisions are guided by continued education, including completion of the PawPeds G1 course, alongside hands-on mentorship and experience. We believe responsible breeding includes lifelong accountability for the cats we bring into the world.
Conditions of the Health Guarantee
Because long-term health is a shared responsibility, our health guarantee is conditional upon the following requirements.
Continuous Pet Insurance
To maintain coverage under our 3-year health guarantee, families must maintain continuous, active pet insurance for their cat from the date of pickup onward.
- Coverage must remain active without lapse
- Trupanion or a comparable comprehensive pet insurance provider is required
- Proof of insurance may be requested
Pet insurance allows medical decisions to be made based on what is best for the cat, rather than financial limitations, and supports timely diagnosis and care. Failure to maintain continuous coverage voids the health guarantee.
Vaccination Protocols
Our health guarantee is void if the Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) vaccine is administered at any time.
We do not support routine FeLV vaccination for indoor-only Maine Coon cats due to:
- Minimal exposure risk in indoor environments
- Documented concerns regarding vaccine-associated adverse reactions
- A risk-based approach supported by veterinary research and breeder experience
Families are encouraged to discuss alternative, risk-based vaccination protocols with their veterinarian.
What Is Not Covered
Our health guarantee does not apply to circumstances outside the Breeder’s control, including:
- Accidental injury or trauma
- Illness or injury resulting from neglect, improper care, or unsafe environments
- Outdoor-related incidents
- Failure to complete a veterinary wellness exam within 72 hours of pickup
- Failure to follow the care responsibilities outlined in our Sales Agreement
These parameters ensure clarity and fairness for all parties.
Why We Require These Conditions
Our requirements are not about restriction, they are about protection. Preventative care, thoughtful medical decisions, and continuous pet insurance significantly improve outcomes for cats and allow us to confidently stand behind our breeding program. This approach protects your cat, your family, and our lifelong responsibility as breeders.
